5 home conservatory ideas for 2020 – Home Decor Expert
If you have an existing home conservatory that needs updating, or are planning to add one to your house, you might be stuck for ideas.
Thankfully, there’s lots of great ideas to make any home conservatory a usable, much-loved room for the entire family to enjoy.
The good news? Unless you’re planning on knocking down internal walls to make your new conservatory a natural extension of an existing room, you won’t need to consider moving out while the work’s being done.
Here are five great home conservatory ideas for 2020.
1. The kitchen conservatory
Yes, you read that right – your home conservatory is the perfect space in which to either place a new kitchen, or extend an existing one.
It stands to reason; a conservatory adds considerable floorspace to any home, and if it’s situated next to your kitchen, it could be the perfect place in which to put that family dining table.
2. Picking the right conservatory flooring
There are lots of options when it comes to home conservatory flooring.
Many people opt for a tiled floor, as it tends to be a more practical choice for cleaning, especially if people are regularly entering the conservatory from the garden. However, if this is not an issue, you may want to create something a little more cosy. A carpet could transform the space to create a perfect second living room for larger households.
3. Open aspect
If you’re lucky enough to have plenty of room in or around your conservatory, it’s a great idea to create an open aspect space.
You can do this by installing bi-folding and sliding doors. This creates the illusion of a wide open space, which gives a sense of your garden being a natural and seamless extension of your living room. These types of doors also ensure you will attract plenty of lovely natural light into your home.
4. T- or P-shaped home conservatory
If you want to create a considerable amount of space in your conservatory, you might want to opt for something other than a standard oblong or square design.
T- and P-shaped conservatories are still very popular design choices, and are particularly suited to properties with larger gardens. This is because, due to their uniques shape, they will inevitably gobble up a fair amount of your outdoor space. However, if you have a large garden, or you wish to make your garden smaller for whatever reason, this may be the perfect solution for you.
5. A contemporary orangery
Orangeries are, when all is said and done, fancy conservatories, but they do have a tendency to look a little bit old-fashioned these days.
They are typically heavier in construction than a modern conservatory, but the more contemporary versions combine brickwork, pillars and some form of skylight, similar to what you might find in a standard conservatory.
An orangery is very versatile and can be used as a sitting room, dining room, guest bedroom, or even a kitchen.
We hope our design and usage ideas for home conservatories will help you to build the perfect extension for your home in 2020.
Conservatories remain a brilliant, cost-effective way to add more space to a house without spending big on a full extension.
Finally, once your new conservatory is built, be sure to make decor choices that reflect your own distinctive style. After all, your conservatory is an integral part of your house, and it’s extra space that should offer just as much comfort and appeal as the rest of your home.
